Jim Miner, Founder of Super One, Dies at 77

DULUTH, Minn. — Services are scheduled Thursday for Jim Miner, president of the family-run Miner’s Inc., operator of of 31 Super One Foods, U-Save Foods and Woodland Marketplace stores in four states.

Miner, who became president of the business founded by his parents in 1975, died Sunday at age 77 after a long illness. He previously had left the day-to-day operations of Miner’s Inc. to his five children and other employees.

Miner founded the Super One chain in 1976 as a warehouse-style store with everyday low prices. The company runs 25 Super One stores today.
