PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway here said yesterday it has named Christiane Pelz as vice president, investor relations. She succeeds Julie Hong, who left Safeway to spend more time with her young children, the company said. Pelz was formerly a vice president at Lippert/Heilshorn & Associates, an investor relations agency based in San Francisco. She previously worked as vice president for the San Francisco office of Citigroup Private Bank, and before that as director of business development and strategic planning for a now-defunct start-up company, also based in San Francisco, and as an investment banking associate for Goldman Sachs in Frankfurt, Germany. Pelz will report to Melissa Plaisance, senior vice president, finance and investor relations.
