PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway has set the Guinness World Record for having the longest picnic table.

To celebrate National Picnic Day on June 18, it created a 305-foot picnic table at the Marina Green in San Francisco. A Guinness World Records official was present to measure and verify the attempt.

“We are now in the books!” according to the Safeway blog.

At the event, Food Network chef Tyler Florence prepared Safeway’s Open Nature private-label line of natural foods. Among the recipes Florence prepared: Open Nature Summertime Potato Salad, The Ultimate Open Nature Barbecued Chicken and The Ultimate Open Nature Barbecued Ribs.

"Having lunch at the World's Longest Picnic Table on National Picnic Day is the perfect vehicle for celebrating our Open Nature promise that ingredients should come from nature and food should have as little processing as possible, Mike Minasi, Safeway’s marketing president, said in a statement.
