QUINCY, Mass. — Stop & Shop here will close its only store in Maine by the end of the month, and has changed plans to build a second store in the state, sources said. The retailer opened its first store in Kennebunk in June of 2007.

A Stop & Shop spokesman was not immediately available for comment, but published reports said the retailer decided to close the store after a business review. Stop & Shop had planned to build a second location in Portland but has backed out of that deal, a source said.
