SUNBURY, Pa. — Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ice Cream is the winner of Weis Markets’ “flavor creator” contest.

“Heather S.” from Muncy, Pa., entered the winning flavor idea of vanilla ice cream with chocolate swirl and strawberries. It was chosen over two other shopper-submitted candidates: s’mores ice cream (chocolate ice cream with marshmallow swirl and chocolate covered graham cracker bits); and chocolate peanut butter pretzel ice cream (chocolate ice cream with peanut butter swirl and chocolate covered pretzels).

As reported in SN, Weis ran a contest to let a consumer create its next private-label ice cream flavor. Under the Facebook promo, contestants could enter their submissions by “liking” the Weis Facebook page and completing an entry form by Feb. 17. Weis’ Facebook fans voted on their favorite through March 8.

The winning flavor will be marketed under the Weis Quality brand. The winner will receive a one-year supply of Weis ice cream.
