SN's 2015 Marketer of the Year winner, Publix Super Markets, was formally given the award at a breakfast session during the FMI Midwinter Executive Conference in Miami Beach.

The company's CEO, Ed Crenshaw, accepted the honor and characteristically gave credit to the retailer's large workforce.

Chris Keating (left) of SN/Penton presented the award plaque to Publix CEO Ed Crenshaw.

"It's an honor to accept this on behalf of our 165,000 Publix associates," he told the audience of retailers and manufacturers. "They work in stores, offices, warehouses and other locations to serve their customers so that Publix can make shopping a pleasure for our customers. So I want to thank you for recognizing the people that make our company so successful and it's a real honor to accept this award."

Publix was chosen based on its enduring brand and its ability to expand organically into new markets.

Chris Keating, VP and market leader for the Food and Restaurant Group at Penton, parent company of SN, presented the award plaque to Crenshaw.

"So few retail brands inspire this kind of passion and loyalty" from shoppers, Keating said. Moreover, he added, Publix has managed an ambitious expansion at a time when organic growth is so difficult.

The award is sponsored by Acosta and presented annually to a supermarket that has demonstrated innovation and success through marketing.

Others present for the event included Jamie Gronowski, CEO of Gronowski Advisory Services, who was on hand to represent Acosta.
