DES MOINES, Iowa — Most pork shoppers, 78%, make a shopping list before going to the supermarket and 64% use smartphone apps when planning a shopping trip, according to a video released by the National Pork Board last month.
The smartphone is the new shopping list for some consumers, the study found, with 42% making their lists with an app. Fifty-eight percent look up recipes on their phone and 57% look up sales.
Once at the store, quality and price is most important. Forty-eight percent of pork shoppers said that value impacts where they shop, while 20% consumers look for a familiar meat counter staff and 11% interested in a good product variety.
The National Pork Board’s video includes highlights from the Pork Path to Purchase and Pork Champion reports that were published earlier this fall.
