NEW YORK — The Internet grocer FreshDirect here said Tuesday that it has expanded service to more than 90 new ZIP codes ranging from Long Island to suburban Philadelphia. This follows an eight-county expansion to the Philadelphia suburbs announced in January.
The largest expansion area includes 67 ZIP codes in New Jersey, serving new customers in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union counties in Northern New Jersey and Camden and Gloucester counties in Southern New Jersey. Other areas include ZIP codes in Nassau and Suffolk counties in New York; and Delaware and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania.
“We’re excited to offer our extensive, locally sourced fresh food products to residents in all three states,” Jason Ackerman, FreshDirect co-founder and chief executive officer. “With our suburban customer growth outpacing customer growth in urban areas, the demand is one of the key drivers for our ahead of schedule expansion into Northern and Southern New Jersey. This extended delivery footprint will also bridge our successful operations in the NY Metro and Greater Philadelphia area and reach the growing demand from moms and suburban customers.”
