BATAVIA, Ill. — Aldi is planning to open its first store in the Richmond, Va. market next year, according to a report in the Times Dispatch newspaper here.

BATAVIA, Ill. — Aldi is planning to open its first store in the Richmond, Va. market next year, according to a report in the Times Dispatch newspaper here.

Aldi officials told the paper that the store would likely open in the second half of 2014. Aldi currently operates several stores in the Fredericksburg, Va. area but none in greater Richmond.

Aldi officials declined to specify how many stores would open in the area, or name specific locations but confirmed it was holding a hiring event for July 25.
