LIMA, Ohio — Chief Super Markets is converting its three Rays supermarkets in this market to the Chief banner, according to local reports.
The 11-store independent, based in Defiance, Ohio, currently operates its other eight locations in the region under the Chief name. Chief is also investing $3 million to upgrade the Lima locations, according to a report on LimaOhio.com.

“We thought it is was time for a change,” Stephanie Skylar, president and chief executive officer, Chief Super Markets, was quoted as saying on the website. “We are one company, and now we have one name.”
The “One Company. One Name.” slogan also appears on the chain’s own website, in a promotion for its loyalty card program. The Chief Great Food Savings Card is replacing Rays Good Neighbor Rewards Card at Rays, according to LimaOhio.com.
Chief was not immediately available for further comment Thursday.
