FAIRFIELD, Ohio — Jungle Jim’s International Market, the destination specialty store here, will open a second location in early 2012, company officials told SN Monday.
The store will be built in a former Bigg’s location in Union Township, Ohio, an eastern suburb of Cincinnati and about 40 minutes from Fairfield, Phill Adams, Jungle Jim’s director of development, told SN.
“We’ve been looking for a new site for about 10 years, but for whatever reason it hasn’t worked out,” Adams said. “In this case everything fell into place, Bigg’s vacated the property, the size was right and the location is good.”
The Bigg’s store in Union was one of five locations closed by Supervalu when it wound down the former superstore chain earlier this year.
Jungle Jim’s had tentative plans to expand to a redeveloped industrial site in Oakley, Ohio, in 2005 but the developer encountered issues and the project did not go forward, Adams said.
