PHOENIX — Sprouts Farmers Market is getting ready for the opening of its 152nd store on March 27 in Houston.

The chain has planned a number of events during the first week the store is open, including drawings, giveaways and “tasting tents” set up on the day before the store opens. For example Sprouts will be giving away 100 loaves of artisan bread and one bag of groceries to 200 shoppers.

This will be the chain’s first store in Houston, and its 24th in Texas.

Sprouts already has received strong support from prospective customers in Katy, the Houston suburb in which the new store is situated, officials said in a news release. Indeed, they pointed out that more than 12,000 Sprouts fans have joined the Katy store’s Facebook page.

“We’re pleased with the overwhelming response to the announcement of our first Houston-area store,” said Sprouts President and Chief Executive Officer Doug Sanders, in a statement.

Sprouts Farmers Markets, based here, features out-of-the-ordinary layouts, and specializes in organic and natural perishables.
