HOBOKEN, N.J. — A ShopRite store here that was severely flooded by Hurricane Sandy is scheduled to reopen in February — about the same time as the Fairway in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, according to local reports.
“While we have no set date yet, we anticipate a grand reopening in February,” said Larry Inserra, president of Inserra Supermarkets, which owns ShopRite of Hoboken, in a post on the retailer’s Facebook page. “My family and I have served our Hoboken neighbors for nearly 10 years, and we are very pleased to continue to provide them with great food, low prices and unparalleled customer service.”
The ShopRite of Hoboken is undergoing a complete renovation that will include the addition of several new features, such as an expanded prepared-foods department with a sushi bar, fresh-baked pizza and Asian specialties. The store will also include a gourmet coffee bar and frozen yogurt offerings. The ShopRite of Hoboken liquor store will also be remodeled and expanded, offering a wider selection of wines and more than 100 new varieties of craft beer.

Meanwhile, local reports indicated that the Fairway store in Red Hook that was badly flooded could also reopen in the February-to-March time frame. A Fairway that is opening this Friday in the Kips Bay section of Manhattan will employ many of the workers from the Red Hook store, the company said in a statement.
The 40,119-square-foot Kips Bay store, in the Kips Bay Shopping Center, is the fourth Manhattan Fairway Market and 12th store in the chain. It was originally scheduled to open in November, but its completion was delayed due to Hurricane Sandy.
