“According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 25.8 million children and adults in the United States — accounting for 8.3% of the population — have diabetes,” said Robin Hawkins, director of health and wellness for United Supermarkets, in a statement. “Of those 25.8 million, 7 million are undiagnosed.”

Free glucose screenings will be held each Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. throughout November. An increased number of diabetes shopping store tours will be offered and several products appropriate for those with diabetes will be offered at a reduced price this week.
