TYLER, Texas — Brookshire Grocery Co. here said it has acquired four former Kaye’s Food Market stores in Louisiana and has quickly converted them to its own banners.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Kaye’s Food Market, based in Memphis, Tenn., continues to operate two locations in Yazoo City, Miss., and Senatobia, Miss.
Brookshire said it has converted one of the acquired stores — in Winnsboro, La. — to its Super 1 Foods price-impact banner, and three others — in Columbia, Jonesboro and Winnfield, La. — to its flagship Brookshire’s banner.
“Once we finalized the agreement we immediately began the conversion process,” said Mike Terry, Brookshire Grocery Co. executive vice president, retail operations, in a statement. “It took a total team effort from across our company, but we’ve been able to make the transition before Thanksgiving.”
He said the company was planning more extensive remodels at some point in the future.
“Our priority was getting these stores back open so people could grocery shop,” he said.
Further information about Brookshire’s plans for remodeling the stores was not immediately available. Brookshire operates more than 150 locations in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.
