LUFKIN, Texas -- Brookshire Bros. here announced that it has begun installing new pharmacy-management software developed by Condor Corp., Pelham, Ala.

"It will give us tools to pool data and allow us to develop management techniques," Oglesbee added. He said, "Condor provides the database management tools, as well as a Claims Reconciliation Service that will allow us to focus on retail."

Oglesbee anticipates that the new software will yield improved efficiency. "Our goal is to centralize many of the functions performed at the store level. We think it may save pharmacists about 5% to 10% of their time."

The retailer would not disclose costs of purchasing and implementing the systems. Brookshire Bros. currently operates pharmacies in 40 of its 68 stores. "We're adding new pharmacies at the rate of about one every month," noted Oglesbee.
