NAPLES, Fla. -- Chris R. Hoerr III, past chairman and chief executive officer of Chris Hoerr & Son Co., a food distributor in Peoria, Ill., died here recently at the age of 75. In 1983, Hoerr sold his family's food-distribution company to Scrivner Inc., Oklahoma City. He then served several years as chairman of the Illinois division of Scrivner Inc. The German-owned Scrivner was acquired in 1994 by Fleming Cos., Dallas. Hoerr also served as past president of the National American Wholesale Grocers Association from 1974 to 1976, and was its chairman from 1976 to 1977. He was a former board member and president of the Illinois Food Retailers Association. In 1984, the association presented Hoerr with its Man of the Year award. Among Hoerr's survivors are his wife, Patriciann, two daughters and a son.
