SAN FRANCISCO -- Shareholders of Costco Wholesale Corp. voted overwhelmingly to affirm Arthur Andersen as the company's accounting firm during last week's annual meeting, which was held here.
co has had no reason to believe the auditor's Seattle office is tainted in any way, despite the scandal involving Andersen and one of its clients, Enron, the Houston-based energy trading firm.
He said if Costco felt there were any problems, it would consider other options, adding that the company sees no reason to change.
The vote to rehire Andersen was 98%, the company said -- although several shareholders at the meeting indicated they had cast their votes by proxy in December, before Andersen's role in the Enron situationhad become public knowledge.
