This year's convention theme of "Technology+People+Space" will look at how changes in technology are changing the shape of the way business is conducted. All Candy Expo Set for 1998

McLEAN, Va. -- The National Confectioners Association here has announced that its second All Candy Expo will take place June 22 to 26, 1998, at Navy Pier in Chicago.

More than 2,700 retail and wholesale buyers attended the first Expo where 500 candy manufacturers displayed their wares. The NCA expects to have 800 manufacturer booths at the 1998 show.

Hershey Unwraps Caramels

HERSHEY, Pa. -- Hershey Chocolate U.S.A. here has introduced a line of caramels under the Hershey's Classic Caramels label.

The individually wrapped candies are available in traditional caramel and chocolate creme filled varieties. Both flavors will be sold in 9- and 14-ounce lay down bags, 4- and 6-ounce peg bags and 25-cent trial bags. The caramels will be priced consistently with Hershey's other nonchocolate products, retailing from approximately $1 to $3, depending on the bag size. The line will be supported with national TV advertising, trade advertising, coupons and sampling.

Honey Acres Reaps Gummys

ASHIPPUN, Wis. -- Honey Acres here has introduced Honey Gummys, a line of gummy bear candies made with real honey. Honey Gummys have a creamy texture and melt in the mouth without being sticky or chewy. They can also be melted in a cup of hot tea. The all-natural candy is fat free and comes in pure clover honey, honey with lemon and honey with raspberry flavors. Assorted flavor Honey Gummys are packed in 5.29-ounce bags and have a suggested retail of $1.99 to $2.19. Ten-pound bulk boxes are also available.
