New Group Educates Dietitians About Supermarket Work

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Supermarket dietitians now have a fresh resource for education and networking that focuses on the dynamic retail food industry.

The centerpiece of the new Retail Dietitians Business Alliance is a first-of-its kind retail business certification program for registered dietitians guided by an advisory board of industry experts.

In addition to online and in-person training at key events, RDBA will offer opportunities through its newsletter and website, as well as host special events for retailers and dietitians to share information.

The group was founded by Phil Lempert, the “Supermarket Guru” and an SN contributing editor. He will serve as the RDBA’s CEO and president.

“Retail dietitians are in a unique position to not only help customers, but also increase retail sales,” he said. “Having them understand the retail landscape is key to everyone’s success.”

RDBA membership is already off to a strong start serving as the voice of more than 400 retail registered dietitians throughout the U.S. who most often work in supermarkets and related retail environments.
