Giant Landover Sponsors Ravens Football

LANDOVER, Md. — In the second year as the official supermarket sponsor of the Baltimore Ravens, which scored a winner on New Year’s Day, Giant Food here is executing a number of good will promotions both at store level and at M&T Bank Stadium to support their team.

The promotions include community outreach, food bank fundraising, giveaways, games, tailgating promotions and shopping-cart decorating contests. Giant also has a highly visible presence at the Raven’s Walk area at the stadium where an average of about 40,000 fans pass during a home game.

“There is a strong fan base for the Baltimore Ravens team and that base is building every year. By being the official supermarket of the Ravens, it positions us well with Baltimore community and helps build our customer loyalty,” Jamie Miller, a Giant spokesman, told SN.

The chain is currently hosting drop-off letter boxes at 50 store locations throughout Maryland for fans to cheer on and encourage their home team in anticipation of the Jan. 15 playoff game. The team receives the letters weekly, which are posted for players in the cafeteria at their training facility in Owings Mills, Md.

Giant is also rewarding fans with a chance to win four tickets, pregame hospitality and parking to a home game. Winners are picked every week the Ravens play.

In conjunction with Giant’s A+ School Reward Program, schools that send in the most letters from students to the football team will be rewarded with a school visit from the Raven’s mascot Poe and cheerleaders.

Giant raised 25,000 pounds of perishable food that was donated to the Maryland Food Bank as part of its Ravens’ partnership last year. A similar drive took place during this season.

The retailer has a multi-year agreement with the Ravens.
