LOS ANGELES — Ralphs Grocery Co., a division of Kroger Co. based here, has partnered with The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and the L.A. Care Health Plan to help consumers quit smoking by distributing free nicotine patches and gum in California.

The effort at 47 Ralphs’ pharmacies began on Monday, June 15th. The retailer will give away 30,000 two-week starter kits of the nicotine patches and gum to LA County residents while supplies last. Residents must be at least 18 years old to participate and have valid identification.

“We are excited to be able to offer this resource to our customers at our pharmacies and hope that this will help them quit smoking, and benefit their health,” said Kendra Doyel, a Ralphs spokeswoman in a press statement.
