San Antonio-based H-E-B is donating money and product to Hawaii following the devastating wildfires in Maui.
The retailer donated $100,000 and 23 pallets of products to the Hawaii Food Bank, according to reporting from MySA.
H-E-B said it will continue to partner with the food bank in Hawaii to help with any additional needs. The Maui wildfires, which raged through the area on Aug. 8, are the deadliest in the U.S. in over 100 years, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
Fueled by dry grasses and spread by high winds, the wildfires have devastated Lahaina, a town in Maui of about 13,000 people. The death toll in the Maui wildfires has risen to 106 as of Aug. 15, according to CNN.
Multiple federal agencies, including the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the Environmental Protection Agency are helping with disaster relief and recovery efforts.
President Joe Biden has said he will travel to Hawaii on Monday to meet with first responders, survivors, as well as federal, state, and local officials.
