MADISON, Wis. -- Retailers still have a chance to enter their star cake decorators in the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association's eighth Annual Cake Decorating Challenge. The deadline for entries is Feb. 15. After reviewing the entries, which should include multiple photographs of the entrant's work, IDDBA will select three decorators -- each from a different company -- to compete against each other at its annual Dairy-Deli-Bake-Seminar & Expo, June 1 to 3, in Las Vegas. The three chosen will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Las Vegas, where they will compete in a three-day, decorating and merchandising event on the show floor. First-, second- and third-place trophies will be awarded. Last year's first-place winner was Kelly Duran, from Wal-Mart, Bentonville, Ark. Ann Stout from Harp's Food Stores, Springdale, Ark., took second place; and Cheryl Jacobson, Publix Super Markets, Lakeland, Fla., came in third. [See "Wal-Mart Takes The Cake in IDDBA's Decorating Challenge," SN, June 17, 2002.] Entrants must be store-level employees. For more information and entry forms, call Cristie Jacobs at IDDBA, (608) 238-7908, or visit the IDDBA Web site: www.iddba.org.
