Other new cards are "Skitch," featuring tiny whimsical sketched characters for birthday and everyday; "Pet Parade," targeting pet lovers; and "Pathways," for the baby boom generation that wishes to keep in touch with family and friends.

Hallmark Cards, Kansas City, Mo., also will debut new cards from Ambassador Cards and Expressions From Hallmark. The cards are priced under $1.99.

The cards include "Small Talk," from Expressions From Hallmark; and "Joke Joint," from the Mahogany line. "Small Talk" cards, priced at 99 cents, appeal to price-sensitive shoppers who want convenience. These 4-inch cards are designed for all situations. "Juke Joints," part of the ethnic line, is based upon popular eating establishments that feature dance and jukebox music.

"In This Together" is a line of light humor cards that are square shaped. The cards focus on seasonal events and activities rather than specific relationships. The line uses a family of recurring characters to highlight specific holidays.
