FALLS CHURCH, Va. -- Food Distributors International here said last week Robert J. Emmons, chairman of Smart & Final, Vernon, Calif., will chair the FDI's executive committee and meetings of the board of governors until a new chairman is elected. Emmons, vice chairman of the FDI, was tapped for the interim job when Robert E. Stauth, FDI chairman since March, retired last week as chairman and chief executive officer of Fleming Cos., Oklahoma City.
T. Kearney Co. titled "Vision 2005: Future Opportunities for Wholesalers and Their Customers," which will be unveiled at next September's FDI conference in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Stauth told SN, "I've enjoyed my industry work for the past 15 years, and I was looking forward to the presentation of Vision 2005."
Vision 2005, a joint venture by the FDI and the National Grocers Association, Reston, Va., will identify future business strategies for the wholesale-supplied food-distribution system.
