ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The conversion of Kash n‘ Karry to the Sweetbay Supermarket banner will be completed Sept. 15, according to Shelley Broader, president and chief executive officer of the chain. She spoke here yesterday in a keynote address at the annual Industry Coupon Conference sponsored by the Association of Coupon Professionals (ACP). Seventy-nine stores bear the Sweetbay name today, and 100 will do so by mid-September. Commenting on the chain‘s plans for growth, Broader said, “There are three ways to grow: by more sales per square foot, by acquisition and by adding new stores. I intend to do all three.” She stressed that serving consumers in southwest Florida calls for understanding their diverse needs. “We are a neighborhood business,” she said, summing up the marketing strategy of the chain. The chain is owned by the Delhaize Group, Brussels.
