GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Fresh Market here said Thursday it plans to expand into Iowa early next year with a store in Cedar Rapids.
The company did not release any additional information about the store, though Iowa sources said it will be located on the site of a former Kmart.
The Fresh Market also said it expects to open a new store in Norfolk, Va., early next year at a new development called Ghent Station — the chain's 13th store in the state, following the scheduled openings of two other locations in Ashburn and Alexandria, Va. Construction on the Norfolk store is subject to certain acquisition and entitlement conditions, the company said.
The Fresh Market operates 144 stores in 26 states, with plans for continued expansion throughout the U.S., it said in a press release.
