BROOKINGS, Ore. — Services were scheduled late last week for Ray Nidiffer, a co-founder of C&K Markets here, who died after having been hospitalized with knife wounds after what police had said was apparently a murder-suicide attempt. A “public celebration of the lives” of Nidiffer and his wife, June, were also scheduled.
June Nidiffer, 80 — who had advanced Parkinson's disease and macular degeneration, according to a company spokeswoman — was found stabbed to death March 15 at the senior living facility she shared with her husband.
Ray Nidiffer, 79, was found at the same time with apparently self-inflicted knife wounds and died a few days later of respiratory failure due to a heart condition, the spokeswoman said. She also said the police had closed their investigation of the deaths, with no charges filed.
