MINNEAPOLIS — Funeral services are scheduled here this week for Jerry Paulsen, founder of Jerry’s Enterprises, operator of 37 Jerry’s Foods, Cub Foods, Save-A-Lot and County Market stores in three states.
Paulsen, 89, died of natural causes at his home in Edina, Minn., April 5, according to his obituary.
Paulsen, a World War II veteran who worked as a butcher while attending college at the University of Minnesota, founded Jerry’s Lucky Dollar in 1950 and built that into a business called the largest Cub Foods franchisee. He was described as a food lover known for his collection of thousands of cookbooks and kitchen gadgets.
