Wyler's Lite Adds Drink Mixes

WEST CHICAGO, Ill. -- Jel Sert Co. here is introducing Wyler's Lite, a new line of low-calorie, powdered soft-drink mixes, in time for the summer selling season.

The new mixes are geared toward health-conscious consumers who want to reduce sugar, sodium and carbonation in their diets. The mixes contain only five calories per serving, and they are also sugar-, sodium- and caffeine-free.

The drink is available in lemonade, pink lemonade and cool raspberry. It comes in canister-style packaging and each container holds six 2-quart individually sealed packets.

The company kicked off its summer promotional campaign recently with introductory freestanding inserts and coupons. The campaign continues throughout this month with leading women's-magazine and national-television spots.

Maximum, Lumen Team Up

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- Maximum Marketing here, a broker for specialty and natural food, has paired with Lumen Foods, a Louisiana-based company that manufactures Stonewell's Jerquee vegetarian jerky.

Lumen Foods also sells hard-line meatless meats and Cajun jerky.

Maximum Marketing provides representation at the retail level for a variety of high-quality natural and specialty products, including grocery and frozen-food items.

Cape Cod Potato Chips Build Ships

HYANNIS, Mass. -- To celebrate the Sail Boston 2000 regatta, slated to be held July 11 to 21 in Boston, Cape Cod Potato Chips here is sponsoring an art project for middle-school art classes throughout New England.

Students are asked to create replica tall ships out of potato chips. The winners will be displayed in Boston during the week of the event.

More than 40 schools have already signed up to participate. Each school will receive cases of the chips to create the ships, which must be at least 18 inches long and 12 inches high. Up to 20 ships will be selected for display, and the winning classes will be invited to attend a special unveiling reception and see the regatta and crews in person.

As a corporate sponsor of the event, Cape Cod Potato Chips will also host a series of related events for its employees, retail customers and the general public.
