LANHAM, Md. — Shoppers Food & Pharmacy said it was cooperating with federal law authorities who raided the chain's headquarters here last week as part of an investigation into the retailer’s relationship with Ulysses Currie, a state senator who had also served as a consultant for Shoppers. Officers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation last Thursday conducted a search at Shoppers headquarters, reportedly leaving with file folders and a box. Officials also raided the home of Currie. Supervalu, Shoppers’ Minneapolis-based parent company, confirmed that authorities had informed the company that the investigation involved the senator, whom Haley Meyer, a Supervalu spokeswoman, described as “one of our service providers.” Meyer declined to provide any specific detail of Currie’s duties or the length of his service. “We are cooperating fully with the FBI and cannot provide additional detail at this time,” Meyer told SN.
