A Facebook page called “Save the Crestline Pig” — named after the neighborhood where the store is located, and the popular shorthand term for Piggly Wiggly — attracted more than 4,200 followers as of Tuesday. A rally on Monday to encourage local officials to step in and save the store reportedly drew a strong turnout.

The store is the only supermarket in the town, according to a report on AL.com. The report said negotiations are ongoing between the landlord of the space and Andy Virciglio, the store’s owner.

Mountain Brook is a suburb of Birmingham with a population of a little more than 20,000.
