"We can finally simplify everything and just be Albertsons," the company said, rather than operating two websites, two Facebook pages "and essentially two of everything."

The merger will take effect on Tuesday, when AlbertsonsMarket.com will become Albertsons.com, the company said — the same day it also plans to launch its new Albertsons mobile app, which will be available on iTunes and Google Play. On Wednesday customers who were previously signed up on either of the two websites will begin receiving the chain's weekly ad via email; and next Thursday the Albertsons and Albertsons Market Facebook pages and Twitter accounts will be merged.
