TORONTO – Loblaw’s President’s Choice brand has apologized for making what it termed as an “insensitive” Twitter message referring to Hurricane Sandy.
The Tweet, posted Tuesday, promoted a recipe for making eyeballs with marshmallows and blueberries with the message “What's scarier? Hurricane #Sandy or a beverage with marshmallow eyeballs?”
The company deleted the message and posted an apology after the message reportedly drew angry responses. “We sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. We understand the seriousness of the storm and didn’t intend to make light of it,” the company posted.
President’s Choice is the leading private-label brand of Loblaw, Canada’s largest food retailer.
