ShopRite Still Looking at Brooklyn Site

KEASBEY, N.J. — ShopRite said it would continue to pursue opening a supermarket at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, although the developer of the project was fired amid federal corruption charges.

KEASBEY, N.J. — ShopRite said it would continue to pursue opening a supermarket at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, although the developer of the project was fired amid federal corruption charges.

Karen Melta, a spokeswoman for ShopRite parent Wakefern Food Corp. here, said the chain would continue to work with landowner Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp. to locate a store at the former industrial space.

Meleta said Wakefern had not signed a lease with PA Associates, the developer chosen for the project last spring. Aaron Malinsky, a principal with PA Associates, was among seven defendants arrested earlier this month by federal authorities charging that he and others participated in bribery and fraud in connection with other projects.
