Giant expands its hometown presence in Philadelphia

Three new stores on tap for December, following latest opening this month

The Giant Company continues its growth in Philadelphia, not far from the chain’s headquarters in Carlisle, Pa., with the announcement that three more stores are on the way in December. These follow Giant’s most recent store opening in the City of Brotherly Love on Nov. 12.

“The City of Philadelphia and the surrounding community continues to play a central role in our growth strategy, bringing customers fresh meal solutions both in-store and online,” said Manuel Haro, divisional vice president of greater Philadelphia, The Giant Company. “We are excited to debut three new stores for our customers just in time for the holiday shopping season and look forward to providing time-saving conveniences to help families spend more time together around the table.”

The December openings include locations at Columbus Road (Dec. 3), Doylestown on Swamp Road (Dec. 10), and a Giant Heirloom Market on Market Street in the Fashion District (Dec. 16). These stores join the new Giant store on Cottman Avenue opened in November.

Sabita Singh, a grocery veteran with nearly 25 years of experience, has been named store manager of the Cottman Avenue store. “This store deepens The Giant Company’s commitment to serving today’s busy families within the City of Philadelphia, saving them money and time for what matters most,” she said. “From our farm-fresh produce to the global flavors across the store, there’s something for every table. No matter how customers choose to shop with us, in-store or online, we’re simplifying the grocery experience so they can then spend more time connecting with family over a meal.”

The store openings mark a year of significant growth in greater Philadelphia for Giant. The Riverwalk Giant, the retailer’s two-level urban flagship store in Center City, opened in March and the company’s new Giant Direct e-commerce fulfillment center located on Island Avenue, which provides more capacity, faster order fulfillment and room to grow home grocery delivery, opened on Nov. 8.
