Members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 665 have voted to approve a new contract with employers Schnuck Markets, Dierbergs Markets and Shop n’ Save, the union said Wednesday.
The new deal covers 9,000 workers at 104 stores in the St. Louis area and expires in May 2016. The deal calls for wage increases of 60 cents an hour over the life of the contract as well as continuation of health benefits, the union said. Part-time workers, spouses and dependents can continue receive coverage under the union’s health plan.
The deal was reached after a year of negotiations. “These have been the most difficult negotiations any of us have ever experienced,” David Cook, Local 665 president, said in a statement.
