ATLANTA — Salads sold at Trader Joe’s have been named as one source of a four-state E. coli outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The salad supplier, Glass Onion Catering of Richmond, Calif., has recalled 181,620 pounds of ready-to-eat salads and sandwich wraps made with cooked chicken and ham sold at retail in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington.
In a related announcement, Atherstone Foods, also of Richmond, Calif., recalled salads and wraps that were sold at Walgreens, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s stores in California, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Trader Joe’s has removed all affected items from stores, the retailer said on its website. Customers can return the products for a full refund.
The CDC named 26 reported E. coli illnesses in Arizona, California and Washington.
