SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The California Grocers Association here said it presented its government relations advocacy award to two individuals and three member companies in recognition of their support for the association's government relations program.
The 2012 individual advocate of the year was Kendra Doyel, group vice president, public relations, for Ralphs Grocery Co., Compton, Calif. The corporate advocates of the year were Gelson's Markets, Encino, Calif.; El Super, Paramount, Calif.; and Save Mart Supermarkets, Modesto, Calif.

The 2012 supplier advocate of the year was Robert Phillips, vice president, public affairs and communications for the West region of Coca-Cola Refreshments, Los Angeles.
"Government relations is the foundation of our association, and these individuals and companies went the extra mile through their active participation this past year in supporting the many CGA advocacy programs," said Ronald Fong, president and chief executive officer of CGA.
