CINCINNATI — Kroger’s fast-growing Ruler Foods discount format will open a new store in Champaign, Ill., next spring, a developer said.
Richard Spinell, principal of Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Mid-America Asset Management, said the retailer has signed a lease for 20,437 square feet at Champaign Town Center and would open a Ruler Foods discount grocery store in there in March.

This will be the first Ruler Foods store in Champaign, and marks Kroger Co.’s return to the market after 30 years, local reports said.
Ruler Foods is a division of Kroger’s Indiana-based JayC Food Stores division. It recently opened its first Ohio store in Lima, and also operates stores in Indiana and Kentucky.
