NEW YORK — Key Food Stores is planning to debut a new banner called Urban Market in early December in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn.
The Urban Market store will be the 150th store in the Key Food cooperative chain of independently owned stores, which operate under the Key Food Marketplace, Key Fresh & Natural, Food Dynasty, Food World, Holiday Farms, Locust Valley and Milford Farms banners. More details about the Urban Market banner are expected in the coming days.
Separately, Key Food has also opened a new store in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan.
“We are so excited to open our newest Key Food in Harlem, New York,” said Gino Palummo, vice president of business development and chief customer officer, in a statement. “We are happy to be there for the community, especially in light of a recent neighborhood fire that destroyed another supermarket. We look forward to welcoming and serving this neighborhood in the best way possible.”
The store, which was built from the ground up, is located on the west side of Harlem. It includes hot and prepared meals, and large seafood and butcher departments, and also offers free delivery with a mimumum purchase.
“I am so proud to open my doors and become a part of this neighborhood,” said store owner Mohammed Abuzahrieh. “Customers are my highest priority and I want to provide this community with a great shopping experience.”
Abuzahrieh also operates a Food Dynasty in the Bronx.
