IDDBA 2012: Fresh Trends in The Big Easy

Beignets at Café Du Monde (see right). A muffuletta sandwich from Central Grocery (see left). Red beans and rice. I’m in New Orleans for this year’s International Dairy Deli Bakery Association’s show, and I’ve been acquainting myself with the city through its food.

Tomorrow I head to day one of Dairy Deli Bake 2012 in the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. I’m especially looking forward to checking out the Show & Sell Center for new cheese, dairy, bakery and fresh meal merchandising ideas.

Also on my docket tomorrow is Datassential Managing Director Jack Li’s “The Decision Tree” presentation that will share customer buying triggers, as well as Harold Lloyd’s presentation “How Strong is Your Magnetic Field?” about making stores “craveable” with a passionate shopper following.

Celebrity chef Paula Deen will giving a talk at the show tomorrow, too. Conference materials say she’ll be sharing how her life experiences led to her becoming influential in food.
