A&P Names New Marketing, Merchandising VPs

A&P, which filed for bankruptcy protection and said it would close 32 stores, said it has named six new executives to its marketing and merchandising teams.

MONTVALE, N.J. — A&P, which filed for bankruptcy protection last year and earlier this week said it would close 32 stores, on Wednesday said it has named six new executives to its marketing and merchandising teams.

Marie Robinson was named senior vice president of supply and logistics; Nancy Gaddy, vice president of deli and bakery; Kevin Broe, vice president of own brands; Harry Giglio, vice president of meat and seafood; Bob Weidner, vice president of customer experience and space management; and Corey Pearson, vice president of pricing and analytics.

"A key element of our comprehensive turnaround is to further enhance value for our customers and their shopping experience in our stores through our broad selection of food products and superior service," said Tom O'Boyle, A&P's executive vice president merchandising and marketing, in a statement. "Marie, Nancy, Kevin, Harry, Bob and Corey are proven, high-caliber leaders, and their combined expertise will significantly strengthen our merchandising and marketing organization and supply chain, and advance our operational and financial restructuring."

Robinson, 43, is responsible for streamlining and enhancing A&P's supply and logistics operations. She has more than 21 years of supply chain experience, leading both self-distribution and outsourced supply chain operations. Prior to joining A&P, she was senior vice president, supply and logistics, for Smart & Final. She began her career as a U.S. Army Logistics Officer before moving into supply and logistics roles at Wal-Mart and Toys R Us.

Gaddy, 51, is responsible for enhancing the company's deli and bakery offerings. Prior to joining A&P, Nancy was vice president for deli, bakery and food service operations for Winn-Dixie Stores. Gaddy has more than 23 years of experience in deli and bakery services through roles with increasing responsibility at Ahold and Ingles Market.

Broe, 49, leads A&P's own brands initiatives. Prior to joining A&P, Broe was vice president, sales and merchandising, for Supervalu's own brands. Earlier in his career, he held management positions at American Company Stores, Bruno's, Petsmart, Cub Foods and Factory Card Outlet.

Giglio, 57, is charged with enhancing the meat and seafood selection, bringing more than 30 years of corporate and field management in food retail through management positions at Stop & Shop and Shaw's. Prior to joining A&P, Giglio was vice president for perishables for Weis Markets.

Weidner, 52, is revamping the customer's in-store experience, including the merchandising sets and layouts. He has more than 30 years of retail experience, including management positions at Jewel. Most recently, he was senior vice president for Prism Retail Services.

Pearson, 48, is leading the development and implementation of pricing strategy and systems as well as everyday pricing, including costs and deals. With more than 32 years of merchandising experience in food retail, Pearson has worked at a variety of companies such as Cub Foods and Biggs. Prior to joining A&P, he was the director of merchandising execution for Supervalu.
