Fresh Summit 2012: Lean and Mean in SoCal

Fresh Summit 2012: Lean and Mean in SoCal

I’m about to get on a plane to sunny Anaheim, Calif., to attend the Produce Marketing Association’s newly trimmed-down Fresh Summit show. Due to member demand, PMA consolidated all the education panels to one day — Friday — and now the expo only runs throughout the weekend.

Although the show doesn’t run into Monday this year, PMA President and CEO Bryan Silbermann told me in an interview last month, that the show only lost about an hour and half of content.

I’m preparing for a jam-packed schedule, especially on “Future Focused Friday” where several panels focus on produce trends, social media and food safety.

Tomorrow I’ll be riding along on the Retail Produce Tour so I’ll report back with the scoop on the Anaheim retail scene.

In the meantime, check out SN's special produce report and what retailers are saying about the citrus category.
