Delhaize Names Jansson Chairman, Bouchut CFO

BRUSSELS — Delhaize Group here said Thursday that Mats Jansson will be the new chairman of the board of the food retailer, whose U.S. holdings include the Food Lion, Hannaford Bros. and Sweetbay chains.

In addition, Delhaize has hired Carrefour veteran Pierre Bouchut as chief financial officer, effective March 19.

Jansson is a veteran executive of Swedish retailers ICA and Axefood, also had been chief executive officer of Scandinavian airline SAS. He had joined Delhaize’s board last year. He will succeed Georges Jacobs, who is scheduled to retire in May.

Bouchut, 56, had joined France-based retailer Carrefour in 2009 as CFO and most recently was executive director, growth markets, overseeing operations in Latin America, Turkey, India, Indonesia and Malaysia. He succeeds Stéfan Descheemaker, who was named CEO of Delhaize Europe on Jan. 1.
