DLM Works to Give Store Brands Similar Look

DAYTON, Ohio — Dorothy Lane Market is working to give its store brands a more cohesive look, with new, art deco-style packaging labels, which are being developed in-house by its graphics department.

“About ten years ago each private label [item] was introduced with its own unique look, since we didn’t have too many of them,” DLM’s corporate chef Carrie Walters, told SN. “Because we’re getting more into private label, we’re trying to make them all look connected so customers will recognize ‘oh this is DLM’s private label, and that is DLM’s private label.’”

Walters, who counts the development of store brand recipes among her duties, will work next on a shelf stable salsa recipe.

“Our private label programs are selling more and more for us here so we’re really trying to see what else we can do with it", she said.
