Lund Food Expands Data Warehouse Applications

EDINA, Minn. — Lund Food Holdings, which operates 10 Lunds and 11 Byerly’s upscale supermarkets, has expanded and enhanced its enterprise data warehouse from Teradata, Miamisburg, Ohio. The next phase beginning immediately is to use the system to better understand the buying behavior of customers (market basket analysis), as well as to support the online customer service staff. Another key focus will be on inventory optimization, refining product assortment and quantity in stores and improving the effectiveness of promotions. “The Teradata platform accelerates reporting from weeks to just hours, giving us daily, integrated snapshots of the business,” said Kevin Baartman, vice president, IT, Lund Food Holdings, in a statement. “The fact that we implemented the initial system in five months resulted in a quick return on our investment — and we are really rolling on the expansion.”
