Publix Donates to Sustainable Fisheries

LAKELAND, Fla. — In recognition of Earth Day this Friday, Publix Super Markets here has pledged to donate 50 cents per pound to the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership when customers buy Wild Domestic Shrimp from April 17 to 27.

LAKELAND, Fla. — In recognition of Earth Day this Friday, Publix Super Markets here has pledged to donate 50 cents per pound to the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership when customers buy Wild Domestic Shrimp from April 17 to 27.

The donation of up to $40,000 would help SFP provide fisheries in the Gulf of Mexico with resources and tools needed to operate in a more sustainable manner, the company said in a release.

In addition to the SFP contribution, Publix will celebrate Earth Day by offering customers: coupons for $1 off GE Energy Smart CFL two-pack lightbulbs, free copies of the 2010-2011 Newspapers in Education “Go Green” tabloid, free reusable bag key chains for any shopper that uses or purchases a reusable bag on April 22, and environmental awareness brochures that include facts about how Publix stays green.
