Safeway Workers Extend Denver Labor Pact

DENVER — Safeway and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 here agreed last week to extend their current contract through June 26 as negotiations continue over wages, health care and pensions, according to the local.

UFCW Local 7 represents 17,000 workers at Safeway, Albertsons and Kroger's King Soopers chain who are seeking to replace contracts that expired May 9.

Both Albertsons and King Soopers employees in the region are currently working without a contract. The contract with Safeway had previously been extended until June 15.
